Environmental Improvements - West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service

Client: West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service
Contract Value: £500,000

Rance Booth Smith Architects led the design team on a project aimed at carrying out environmental improvements to the external fabric of the Birkenshaw training centre by over cladding the building with an insulated system, improving the fenestration and upgrading the roof cladding. This reduced the carbon footprint and therefore the on-going running cost of the building.

As part of the feasibility study, design consideration was given to improve the approach to the canteen, improve the vertical access to the upper floors, and provide additional toilet provisions with the intention of freeing up additional space and improving the overall aesthetics.
