Allan was a founder of Rance Booth Smith Architects in 1982. He has over 35 years' experience in health, education, commercial, industrial and public sector projects.
Allan lives in Ilkley, and his hobbies are varied including road cycling, mountain biking, swimming, skiing and camping. He enjoys a beer and a curry and must enjoy work because he seems to do plenty of it.
Linda joined Rance Booth Smith Architects in 1991 and became a Partner/Director in 1996. In addition to architectural duties Linda is also the Practice's Principal Designer.
Karen is a qualified architectural technologist and interior designer and heads the Architectural Interiors/Interior Design department, undertaking all aspects of refurbishment projects, space rationalisation as well as space planning. Karen has been with the Practice for over 30 years.
Fundraising ambassador for Cancer Support Bradford & Airedale, chair of PTFA Immanuel College and supporting her son Alex’s very expensive motor-racing career.
Caroline is a Associate Director and the Sustainability Manager of RBS Sustainable which offers a whole range of services to help create environmentally sustainable buildings.
Caroline is married with two children. Her spare time is currently filled constructing an extension to their family home. When not busy driving diggers and laying blockwork Caroline enjoys skiing, reading, gardening and relaxing with a glass of red wine.
Martyn joined Rance Booth Smith in 2003 and has worked across a broad spectrum of projects, from large scale master planning proposals to smaller refurbishments and extensions. He has experience in a wide range of sectors including education, commercial, residential, healthcare and industrial. Martyn is also an RIBA Conservation Registrant and heads up our conservation service.
Martyn is married to Sadie and they have two children. Most of his free time is either spent out on day trips around Yorkshire trying to occupy his ever inquisitive son, or visiting family and friends further afield. He has a keen interest in photography, films, loves to travel (when possible), and enjoys nothing more than a nice beer after a long walk with the family.
Barry is a qualified Architectural Technologist from New Zealand and joined Rance Booth Smith in 2003 where he has worked on a wide variety of projects across a variety of sectors, from small residential to large educational and healthcare work.
Barry lives in Leeds and outside of work he has varying interests but particularly enjoys getting out in the wide open spaces; taking in the fresh air while walking in the hills of Yorkshire and Scotland.
Simon joined Rance Booth Smith Architects in 2019. He is currently working towards his Part III MArch qualification whilst working as an Architectural Assistant.
Simon has a keen interest in sustainable buildings and the use of timber within architecture. He has completed educational programs in sustainable architecture and eco and off grid housing in the US as well as timber design in Continental Europe.
Simon is currently completing his Master’s project on the use and production of UK timber in architecture. He is looking to better understand the possibilities of designing with UK timber and how we can integrate architecture into the natural environment.
Gillian joined Rance Booth Smith in 2007 and manages the day to day finance elements of the Practice including budgeting, payroll, managing sales and purchase invoices and monitoring cash-flow.
Gillian is to be found walking up on the hills most weekends, either in the Yorkshire Dales or the Lake District. She loves getting muddy and volunteers on a regular basis with tree planting for the Forest of Bradford. She lives in Saltaire and is involved in developing a nearby community nature reserve. She also enjoys the odd pint of beer!
Charlotte joined the RBS Interiors team the week before lockdown and so had an interesting and unusual start to her role at Rance Booth Smith. She works closely wth the architectural team providing specialist interior advice on various building types. Charlotte graduated from Huddersfield University in 2014. During her final year at University she did a lot of research into Biophilic design and is interested in how it can impact on health and office environments. She took six months out to travel before starting at her first practice in early 2015.
Charlotte lives locally and loves to travel, go walking in and around Yorkshire, eat out and read.
Sam joined Rance Booth Smith in April 2015, her role includes answering the telephone, greeting clients and guests, sorting out the post, producing certificates, and a wide range of other day-to-day administrative tasks.
Sam lives locally and outside of work, is a busy mum of 2 boys, Finn and Cillian. Sam volunteers through the Hale befriending scheme, is a Dementia Friend and Secretary on the St Walburgas Out of School Management Committee. When she has the time, Sam enjoys running with friends and has just completed the Great North Run for The Macular Society, walking, reading, spending time with husband Damien and is currently completing a Psychology course at Shipley College.
